Day 36 - Still in ICU

Marika is now on full life support in critical condition. She can have no visitors. Her parents want you to know that your comments, the love you have sent and the myriad ways you have lent your support and solidarity have strengthened them. And that is good for Marika. As she recovers, I will update, but if her condition worsens, I am not sure that I will be able to post that. Your comments yesterday help her and help everyone who is concerned about Marika to feel connected. I know they helped me. Please keep them coming. ~Janet

Dear Marika,
Perhaps love and connection to those who love you is what strength is now. Please feel the abundance of support and love we send to you and your family.

Being present with waiting is so challenging....
Like waiting for a flower to unfold...
Waiting for you to come out of this critical condition is excruciating....
How to' be' as we wait?
It is hard to be still, not want to force you into wellness...
Not want to be able to 'do' something....
You are teaching us all so many lessons, dear one.
I will try to quiet myself,
allow my thoughts of you to just be
as I surround you in the white and golden light of healing.
Each breath is a miracle.

Marika, I'm so sorry I wasn't there to see you Saturday. I wish I was there, but I didn't read the blog until just now. I'm so sorry to hear about the most recent news. Just know that we all love you and are thinking about you all the time. I will be praying for you every day. I love you girl. Stay Strong!!

DEAR MEEKS,

I KNOW YOU CAN HEAR US ALL URGING YOU NOT TO GIVE UP. YOUR FRIEND ANDREA'S POEM SAYS IT ALL: HOW DO WE "BE" WHEN WE FEEL SO HELPLESS TO "DO SOMETHING" TO HELP YOU? SO WE CHEER YOU ON, WE SEND OUR WARMEST WISHES FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY TO HELP GUIDE YOU BACK TO US. GRAB ON TO US MEEKS. WE CAN LEND YOU OUR STRENGTH WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE YOURS IS TOO TIRED. GRAB ON AND KEEP BREATHING LIFE INTO THOSE SOGGY LUNGS OF YOURS. THEY'LL GET BETTER WITH EACH BREATH. THEY HAVE ALREADY STARTED.

LOTS OF LOVE COMING YOUR WAY,

(AUNT) LAURIE

P.S.: IT IS NOT REALLY NECESSARY TO TRY ON EVERY POSSIBLE MEDICAL COMPLICATION OF THIS LEUKEMIA OF YOURS. PLEASE DON'T FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE TO EXPERIENCE EVERYTHING IN THE MEDICAL TEXTBOOKS. TRY TO GIVE YOUR POOR DOCTORS A BREAK EVERY NOW AND THEN. YOU'RE KEEPING THEM ON THEIR TOES, BUT THEIR TOES ARE GETTING A LITTLE TIRED, AND ALL THAT THINKING THAT THEY HAVE TO DO CAN GET EXHAUSTING. YOU DON'T WANT TO WEAR THEM OUT THIS EARLY IN THE GAME.... LBB

MARIKA DEAR,

I SPELLED YOUR NAME WRONG LAST NIGHT. I GET ANOYED WHEN MY NAME IS SPELLED WRONG, FORGIVE ME, I GUESS I WAS TIRED WHEN I SENT IT CLOSE TO MIDNIGHT.

NOW IT IS MORNING AND I'M STILL TIRED. BUT I'M READY TO FACE THE DAY ONCE MORE, HOPE YOU ARE DOING THE SAME, FACING THE DAY WITH COURAGE AND DETERMINATION.

I WILL GO FOR A LONG WALK ON THIS SUNNY DAY, I WILL LOOK UP TO THE SKY FROM TIME TO TIME AND TALK TO G"D TO MAKE YOU BETTER.

ALL OUR LOVE,
TERRI AND HENRY
